an expedition documenting

stories of change along Nepal's Gandaki river

raising awareness about climate change.

Himalayas to Ocean (H2O) is a documentary project following the Gandaki river in Nepal from high up in the Himalayan peaks to the country’s floodplains. Along the way, it recounts the stories of those who live at the water’s edge, and the way their lives are inevitably being shaped by a changing climate. H2O aims to complement scientific research by raising awareness about climate change in novel ways using compelling multimedia approaches that blend photography, video, and immersive sounds.

Key partnerships for impact.

We are an Environmental Change Institute (University of Oxford) affiliated project, and partner with the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD). The ECI has a track record for producing research on climate change with expertise in water, food and energy.  ICIMOD is a world-renowned organisation working on climate change impact and adaptation in the Himalayas. Those collaborations will provide us with supervision and expertise on the region throughout the project to ensure H2O reflects the realities on the ground and maximises impact.
